Adam Ernest Scheihagen

Ernest, as he was known in high school, had the lead in the senior class play, "Tons of Trouble."
Ernest also played in the high school orchestra.

After graduation, Ernest entered college at West Texas State in the fall of 1937. He graduated with a B.A. in May 1941.
Ernest and Ethel Vinson were married in May 1940. They had three children: Ernest Vinson Scheihagen, Saundra Scheihagen, and David Scheihagen.

Ernest started flight training in the fall of 1940 in the government Civilian Pilot Training Program at West Texas State in Canyon.

He received his commercial pilot's license and flight instructor rating in Albuquerque, NM, in March 1942. He was employed as flight instructor in Kilgore, TX, from April 1942 through August 1942.

He took a job with T. W. A. September 15, 1942, flying to Scotland, Africa, and South America on contract to the U. S. Army.
He left T. W. A. March 1944 to enter U. S. Navy. He flew as plane commander in Naval Air Transport Service in the U. S. and in the Pacific Theater until he was discharged in December 1945.


He flew for Pioneer Air Lines in Houston beginning 1947. Was promoted to captain Oct. 1947. Pioneer merged with Continental Air Lines in 1955. He retired with Continental on his 60th birthday (mandatory), March 6, 1980.

Moved from Los Angeles to Huntsville, TX, 1976. Performed in Gilbert and Sullivan opera productions of the Huntsville Community Chorale for 6 years and acted in 2 other productions in 1985.
