Max Allen Stiefel

Max Stiefel was a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Air Force and was a navigator in a B-24 in England during World War II.  He was shot down over Germany, parachuted to safety only to be caught and placed in a prison of war camp for two years.  He survived the war and went on to become a Lieutenant Colonel.

STIEFEL, Max Allen, of Laguna Woods, CA, passed way June 13, 2001. A native of San Antonio, he was assigned as a B-24 Navigator, with the 66 BS 44 BG H. Shot down over Austria, he went through the Oberusel Interrogation Center, Dulag Luft, and eventually arrived at Luft 3, then Stalag 7A. He was an AXPOW life member since 1979

CHRISTINE CLAIRE LYTLE - 17, of Los Altos, Calif; services pending;
interment, Los Altos, Calif.

Miss Lytle was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Scott Lytle Jr.,
formerly of San Antonio and now visiting here.  

She was born in San Antonio but moved to California some years ago,
graduating this past spring from High School in Los Altos.

Miss Lytle is survived by her parents; grandmother, Mrs. Christine T.
Woddall; uncles, Guy Turpin and James A. Gallagher, and paternal
grandmother, Mrst. Elizabeth M. Gallager.

Funeral Services for Miss Christina (Tina) Claire Lytle, of Los Altos, Calif., dughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Scott Lytle Jr., formerly of San Antonio, will be held in Los Altos.

Miss Lytle, 17, died last Wednesday in Germany while visiting her uncle and aunt, Lt. Col. and Mrs. Max A. Stiefel, formerly of San Antonio.  Miss Lytle developed a severe allergic reaction and passed away."
