Eugene Halstead "Gene" Gene Halstead, a native Californian, passed away March 20, 2007. Born on December 2, 1936, he moved to the Los Angeles area after graduating in 1954, where he met and married his wife of 49 years, Judy. They moved to Downey in 1965 and raised four children. He is survived by his wife, Judy; brother, Robert Halstead of Grants Pass, Oregon; and children, Travis (Cindy), Ann ( Peter Burkhardt), David (Celine Groff); and son-in-law, Howard Phillips; grandchildren, Tyler and Tricia Halstead, Greg, Tom and Laurel Burkhardt, Brittany and Skylar Halstead, Cory and Mandy Groff, and Malia and Heather Phillips. His oldest daughter, Susan Phillips, predeceased him in 2002.
He will be lovingly missed by his family and friends.
He worked for 35 yrs as a cutting pressman. He then spent 16 years working as a driver and security guard until retiring in 2004.

Judy was raised in Bell Gardens, CA where she met and married her husband of 46 years, Gene Halstead. They made their home in Downey in 1965 where they raised four children. She is survived by her sisters, Linda Stevens of Santa Barbara, and Dixie Romero of Downey; her children, David (Celine Groff), Ann (Peter Burkhardt), Travis; and son-in-law, Howard Phillips; grandchildren, Brittany and Skylar Halstead, Greg, Tom and Laurel Burkhardt, Tyler and Tricia Halstead, Malia and Heather Phillips; and step-grandchildren, Cory and Mandy Groff. Her husband Gene predeceased her in 2007, her oldest daughter Susan Phillips in 2002, and most recently, her daughter-in-law Cindy Halstead on October 20, 2008.
She will be greatly and lovingly missed by her family and friends. She was a devoted motherand a dedicated employee. She worked for Pacific Bell for 20 years before taking an early retirement in 2002.
