Lawrence E "Larry" Tarman, 81, of Ocala, FL lost his battle with lung cancer at home on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 surrounded by his wife Pat and his son Larry. Born on September 11, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, son to the late Edgar and Vera (Swickrath) Tarman, Larry grew up on the south side of Chicago as the youngest of 4 boys and was raised by his mother after his father died when he was 9 years old. A proud graduate of De LaSalle High School, Larry married his wife Pat when he was 19 years old. Together they had 4 children and in 1966 they moved to Downers Grove, where they lived until 1971. It was then that the entrepreneurial spirit took hold as Pat and Larry decided to invest all their life savings in their first of 4 restaurants, Dunkin Donuts in Arlington Heights. They went on to own Italian Patio in Chicago, Pans and Irons in Northbrook Court and the Silo Restaurant in Lake Bluff with their daughter Sandy and her husband Larry Pike. Pat and Larry retired to Ocala, FL in 1998 where they developed two passions; making friends and golf. Larry's game reached a pinnacle when he recorded a hole-in-one in 1999 and subsequently when he won the Linkside Championship in 2001. However, what Larry will be remembered for the most was his deep love of Notre Dame football. Loyally flying the ND flag on game days, he bravely faced slings and arrows when they lost, but always reveled in a great Notre Dame victory. Larry and Pat frequently looked forward to their annual visits back to Chicago, always finding time for pizza at Vito and Nicks and a visit to Portillo's for Italian Beef. Words which exemplify Larry's life are: generous, mischievous, loyal friend, wonderful family man, avid Notre Dame Football fan, Chicagoan, inspirational, a rock. Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Patricia Tarman of Ocala; daughters Sandy Pike (Larry) and Karen Santore (Bill) as well as sons Larry Tarman (Wendy) , all of Chicago, and Dave Tarman (Leslie) of Dallas; grandchildren Sean, Kaden, Brian, Ryan, Hunter and Lauren and his brother Paul of St. Louis. A visitation will be held on Monday, December 17th from 3:00PM to 5:00PM in the TimberRidge Chapel of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 9695 SW 110th St., Ocala followed by a memorial service at 5:00PM. The Mass will be held at 8:30Am on Tuesday, December 18th at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Ocala. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Marion County.

Patricia "Pat" Tarman, 81, of Chicago lost her battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis on August 2, 2015 Born on September 13, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois, daughter to the late William and Myrtle Benton, Pat grew up on the south side of Chicago, along with her brother Bill Benton. A proud graduate of Calumet High School, Pat married the love of her life, Larry, when she was 17 years old. Together they had 4 children and in 1966 they moved to Downers Grove, where they lived until 1971. Pat was always the risk taker, while taking care of 4 kids, and working full time, she also sold Amway, Tupperware, and was a demonstrator for the first version of the Polaroid Camera. She was always the trendsetter, and the entrepreneurial spirit continued as Pat and Larry decided to invest all their life savings in their first of 4 restaurants, Dunkin Donuts in Arlington Heights. They went on to own Italian Patio in Chicago, Pans and Irons in Northbrook Court and the Silo Restaurant in Lake Bluff with their daughter Sandy and her husband Larry Pike. Pat and Larry, married for 61 years, retired to Ocala, FL in 1998 where they developed two passions; making friends and going to or having parties. Pat had a large circle of friends and her social calendar was always full. She has a good sense of adventure, joined the Red Hat Club, the Oak Run golf league, played dominoes, played Friday night cards, and regularly went on vacation. She was always on the go and would some times have to cut short phone conversations with her family because she was running late for her next engagement. However, what Pat will be remembered for the most was her magnetic personality, and her great laugh! Larry and Pat frequently looked forward to their annual visits back to Chicago, always finding time for pizza at Vito and Nicks, burgers at White Castle and a visit to Portillo's for Italian Beef. Words which exemplify Pat's life are: Fun, quick to laugh, easy to talk to, confident, generous, a loyal friend, wonderful mother, an avid shopper, a proud Chicagoan, and some one you could always count on to be there for you. Pat is survived by daughters Sandy Pike (Larry) and Karen Santore (Bill) as well as sons Larry Tarman (Wendy), Dave Tarman (Leslie) all of Chicago; grandchildren Sean, Kaden, Brian, Ryan, Hunter, and Lauren and her brother Bill Benton.
